DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Lower on Average
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN average price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 35 locations reporting for the week ended Feb. 16 was $268 per ton, down $1 on average from one week ago. Prices were steady to mixed again but lower on average. With the increase in plant production, DDG supplies are plentiful and other feedstuffs are competing as well. Soybean meal prices have come off the highs, but still expensive compared to DDG.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) at midweek showed ethanol domestic production increased 1.4% or 14,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.014 million bpd during the week ended Feb. 10, 0.5% higher than the same week in 2022.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Feb. 16 was 1.11%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 54.54%, and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $9.93 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $10.35.
In its weekly DDGS export update, the U.S. Grains Council said: "Barge CIF NOLA offers are steady to $1 metric ton (mt) lower this week as river navigation improved and barge freight continued to fall. FOB NOLA offers are down $1 for spot positions but steady or $3 to $4 mt higher for April/May. Offers for 40-foot containers to Southeast Asia are $10 to $12 mt higher this week at $407 mt."
