Spot Ethanol Down on Concern Over Exports While RINs Rally
Spot ethanol prices tumbled in thin trade on Friday on concern a trade war with China would limit ethanol exports, while the value for renewable identification numbers rallied on growing confidence there won't be major changes to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
In physical trade, prompt delivered ethanol at Argo in the Chicago market traded at $1.4425 and $1.4445 gallon, down 2.5cts, while New York Harbor April barges were valued at $1.55 gallon, down 4.0cts. In the credits market, 2018 D6 RINs traded at 57.0cts for a 7.0cts gain.
