DTN Weekly DDG Price Steady on Average

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 6 was $155 per short ton on average, unchanged versus one week ago.

DDG prices were mixed but steady on average, while the cash corn price was lower versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 5 cents per bushel (basis SEP), while soybean meal prices were down $6.40 per short ton (basis DEC) versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 6 was 0.939%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 48.96% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.74 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.67.

U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these September prices as of Aug. 6: CIF NOLA barge price was down $5 at $225 metric ton (mt) versus one week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was down $1 at $243 mt; rail delivered PNW was down $16 at $247; and rail delivered to California was down $12 at $245 mt.

Ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.107 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended July 31, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday. That's down 26,000 bpd week-on-week and 14,000 bpd, or 1.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.127 million bpd was 23,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.047 million bpd, down 24,000 bpd week-on-week and 15,000 bpd, or 1.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.07 million bpd was 24,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

RFA reported Aug. 4 that June exports of DDGS climbed 2% to an eight-month high of 1.10 million metric tons (mmt), supported by stronger shipments to several leading markets. Exports to Mexico increased 10% to 231,951 mt, the highest volume since January 2025. Shipments to Indonesia surged 22% to a record 166,925 mt, while exports to Vietnam rose 19% to 134,284 mt, approaching a three-year high. For the first half of 2026, U.S. DDGS exports reached 6.16 million mt, up 15% from the same period last year.
