Weekly Crop Report and Weather Comments
Despite generally favorable harvest weather in the Midwest last week, harvest progress continues to trail the normal for corn throughout the western Midwest. Harvest progress for soybeans is running at or behind normal. Harvest progress for both corn and soybeans is running mostly ahead of normal in the eastern Midwest.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms moving from west to east across the Midwest on Tuesday and Wednesday will disrupt the harvest. However harvest weather looks to turn favorable from later this week through the middle of next week with mostly above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall.

The Southern Plains winter wheat belt continues to see diminishing soil moisture especially in western areas due to hot/dry weather. This is beginning to impact crop establishment in the west. Soil moisture conditions generally remain favorable in the east.
Except for scattered light to locally moderate showers in eastern areas Wednesday, dry weather and above to much above normal temperatures are expected during the next 7-10 days. This will lead to continued deterioration in crop conditions, especially in the west.
Hot/dry weather in the Delta, Alabama and western Georgia has been favorable for the harvest but it is beginning to affect winter wheat planting. Above to much above normal temperatures and dry conditions are expected during the next 7-10 days.
