The USMCA could pass the Senate as early as Friday, a White House trade advisor said over the weekend. A Senate committee will take up the legislation on Tuesday.

The Senate Finance Committee will meet Tuesday morning in an open executive session to consider the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and the implementation act passed last month by the House of Representatives.

White House trade advisor Peter Navarro said Sunday on Fox News that it's possible the Senate could pass USMCA as early as Friday if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., chooses to immediately bring the act to the floor.

Regardless if it is this week or next, Navarro noted President Donald Trump will also take executive action to sign an agreement with China on Jan. 15 as well. "So you could have, within the space of a week, leading off 2020, two of the biggest and best trade deals ever signed in American history," Navarro said.
