Striking French Workers Snarl Tunnel

PARIS (AP) -- Striking French ferry workers are blocking access to the loading terminal for the Eurotunnel that links France and England, delaying cargo and passengers hoping to cross the English Channel.

The workers have repeatedly protested expected job cuts in the French port city of Calais linked to Eurotunnel's sale of its ferry service. Eurotunnel said the union was protesting again Tuesday, hindering vehicles on their way to the train terminal.

Calais has become increasingly tense as the labor unrest continues. The French port city is home to encampments of thousands of migrants hoping to stow away on cargo trucks and cars heading to England. Some of the migrants take advantage of traffic slowdowns to try and leap onto the vehicles.
