Emerging cotton seedling, by Mandy Pierce from Hertford, North Carolina, won the Editor's Pick award in this year's DTN/Progressive Farmer MyPlanting19 photo contest. (Mandy Pierce photo)

The planting season that wouldn't end has, for the most part, ended. And with that came some fantastic photo submissions to the DTN/PF MyPlanting19 photo contest.

The winners are being celebrated in the current issue of our sister publication, Progressive Farmer. If you're not receiving that in the mailbox, you should sign up here: https://w1.buysub.com/…

In the meantime, you can check out the winners from the digital addition, at

Congratulations to Nick Bittner, of Clyde, North Dakota, for a gorgeous photo of a sunset behind a field cultivator tractor; he took 1st Place in the Most Liked category. The 2nd Place award in that photo category went to Keith Werner, of Hanna, Indiana, of a tractor and 16-row planter finishing a planting round and making the hard right turn for another.

In the Editor's Pick category, we loved the way Mandy Pierce, of Hertford, North Carolina, used scale and depth of field to celebrate a tiny cotton seedling about to unfurl in the sun. We know everyone was celebrating each and every plant emergence this year!

We truly appreciate the effort folks go to capture these moments and share them with DTN, Progressive Farmer, and our readers and customers. It is always a difficult job to select winners from so many creative entries.
