US Ethanol Inventory Down
EIA: US Ethanol Production Down on Week, Blending Demand Up
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.007 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended Aug. 25, down 41,000 bpd week-on-week and 37,000 bpd, or 3.7%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.037 million bpd was 46,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 952,000 bpd, down 40,000 bpd week-on-week and 41,000 bpd, or 4.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 980,000 bpd was 47,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 920,000 bpd, up 5,000 bpd week-on-week and 14,000 bpd, or 1.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 921,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 2,000 bpd in the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 5,000 bpd, up 2,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 5,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 21.609 million barrels (bbl), down 1.181 million bbl week-on-week and 1.924 million bbl, or 8.9%, lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 6.933 million bbl, down 43,000 bbl week-on-week and 610,000 bbl, or 8.8%, lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 8.514 million bbl, down 552,000 bbl week-on-week and 70,000 bbl, or 0.8%, lower than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 3.424 million bbl, down 545,000 bbl week-on-week and 867,000 bbl, or 25.3%, lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.4 million bbl, down 30,000 bbl week-on-week and 347,000 bbl, or 14.5%, lower than in the same week last year.
