EIA: Domestic Ethanol Output Fell 1.1% in Week Ended May 5EIA: US Ethanol Production Edges Up, Blending Demand Eases
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- The Energy Information Administration midmorning reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 965,000 barrels per day (bpd) through May 5, down 11,000 bpd week-on-week and 26,000 bpd, or 2.7%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 983,000 bpd was 16,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 912,000 bpd, down 10,000 bpd week-on-week and 29,000 bpd, or 3.2%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 931,000 bpd was 19,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 897,000 bpd, down 14,000 bpd week-on-week and 7,000 bpd, or 0.8%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 897,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were down 11,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest were down 4,000 bpd, down 0,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and up 3,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 23.291 million barrels (bbl), down 72,000 bbl week-on-week and 849,000 bbl, or 3.6% lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.543 million bbl, up 217,000 bbl week-on-week and 134,000 bbl, or 1.8% lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 8.939 million bbl, up 78,000 bbl week-on-week and 846,000 bbl, or 9.5% lower than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.082 million bbl, down 339,000 bbl week-on-week and 27,000 bbl, or 0.7% lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.378 million bbl, down 15,000 bbl week-on-week and 171,000 bbl, or 7.2% higher than in the same week last year.
