OMAHA (DTN) -- Friday's USDA Cattle on Feed report is expected to be bullish given that there's a chance that all three categories could be lighter than a year ago.

But as usual, traders will likely focus mainly on the placement category. As long as that figure is below a year ago, traders will likely be quick to deem the report as bullish and move on. If placements do come in at 91.7%, that will be a record low for the third consecutive month.

USDA will release its Oct. 1 Cattle on Feed report at 2 p.m. CDT on Friday.
