Posted 10:41 -- At midmorning Tuesday, crop prices are holding higher, but the U.S. dollar has gained back much of its loss and the stock market has given up most of its earlier gains. December corn is up 5 1/4 cents and November soybeans are up 10 1/2 cents with December soybean meal a little lower and December bean oil a little higher. December KC wheat is up 24 cents, still facing a mostly dry forecast in the southwestern U.S. Plains at planting time. December Minneapolis wheat is up 17 1/2 cents. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.08 and Dow Jones futures are up 35 points. November crude oil is up $1.84, almost erasing Monday's loss.

Posted 08:45 -- After Tuesday's 8:30 a.m. CDT open, crop prices are taking advantage of a small pullback in the U.S. dollar to take back some of Monday's losses. December corn is up 6 1/2 cents and November soybeans are up 11 1/4 cents after USDA said 12% of corn and 8% of soybean crops were harvested, on the low end of expectations. December KC wheat is up 17 1/2 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 15 1/4 cents with USDA saying winter wheat was 31% planted and spring wheat was 96% harvested. November crude oil is up $1.19 and Dow Jones futures are up 176 points. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.20 and December gold is up $9.50.

Livestock

OMAHA (DTN) -- December live cattle are down $0.40 at $146.95, November feeder cattle are down $1.23 at $175.825, December lean hogs are down $2.83 at $76.575, December corn is up 3 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is down $0.90. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 181.38 points and NASDAQ is down 28.64 points. The cash cattle market remains quiet with just a few live bids noted in parts of the South at $143. When the hogs and pigs report is released Thursday, some analysts are expecting that all hogs and pigs to be down less than 1% with an estimated head count of about 74.3 million.

Posted 08:45 -- December live cattle are up $0.35 at $147.7, November feeder cattle are up $0.13 at $177.175, December lean hogs are up $0.85 at $80.25, December corn is up 8 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is up $2.40. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 254.54 points and NASDAQ is up 190.94 points. The cash cattle trade is slow to start Tuesday morning, with bids and asking prices not established as of yet. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until Wednesday or later. On the hog side of things, we will be waiting to see what the Sept. 1 Hogs and Pigs report will say when it is released on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m. ET.
