Turkey to Repeat Gulen US Extradition

ISTANBUL (AP) -- Turkey's president says he will demand the extradition of the leader allegedly responsible for last month's abortive coup during his meeting with the American vice president later that day.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated frequent, earlier demands for the extradition of Fethullah Gulen during a speech in Ankara on Wednesday.

Erdogan said he will tell U.S. Vice President Joe Biden that the United States does not "have the right to hem and haw. You have to hand him over."

Ankara claims Gulen was the mastermind behind the violent coup that killed over 270 people. Gulen denies any involvement. The U.S. has said it would consider extradition but required concrete evidence to do so.
