Poland PM: Previous Gov't Harmful

WARSAW, Poland (AP) -- Poland's conservative prime minister has accused the previous government of "egoism, wastefulness, contempt" toward citizens and warned of consequences to those responsible.

Beata Szydlo made the accusations in a parliament speech Wednesday summing up the eight-year rule of the Civic Platform and Polish People's Party coalition that was ousted in elections last year and is now in the opposition.

She called for lawmakers to form a special commission to investigate a financial scandal involving a pyramid scheme, and warned of prosecution.

Her speech was part of a policy by the ruling right-wing Law and Justice party of discrediting political opponents as the party makes sweeping changes to state offices and to social policy, often through purges and accusations.
