EIA: US Ethanol Output Down 3.4%, Supply Rose 0.7% Year-Over-Year
HOUSTON (DTN) -- The Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.021 million barrels per day (bpd), in the week ended April 4, down 42,000 bpd week-on-week and 35,000 bpd, or 3.4%, lower than in the same week last year.
Four-week average output at 1.061 million bpd was 4,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Midwest ethanol production averaged 966,000 bpd, down 44,000 bpd week-on-week and 42,000 bpd, or 4.3%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.009 million bpd was 1,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 872,000 bpd, down 26,000 bpd week-on-week and 14,000 bpd, or 1.6%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average blending demand at 886,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 1,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest were down 9,000 bpd, down 13,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 5,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 27.034 million barrels (bbl), up 422,000 bbl week-on-week and 826,000 bbl, a 3.1%, increase compared to the same week of the previous year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 8.249 million bbl, up 706,000 bbl week-on-week and 5,000 bbl, or 0.1%, higher than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 11.269 million bbl, up 253,000 bbl week-on-week and 112,000 bbl, or 1%, higher year-over year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.467 million bbl, down 749,000 bbl week-on-week and 265,000 bbl, up 5.9%, compared to the same week of the prior year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.682 million bbl, up 199,000 bbl week-on-week and 452,000 bbl, or 16.9%, higher than in the same week last year.
