EIA: Domestic Ethanol Production Up on Week, Year
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.109 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended July 26, the Energy Information Administration reports, up 14,000 bpd week-on-week and 42,000 bpd, or 3.8%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.091 million bpd was 25,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.045 million bpd, up 10,000 bpd week-on-week and 40,000 bpd, or 3.8%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.032 million bpd was 31,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 919,000 bpd, up 1,000 bpd week-on-week and 5,000 bpd, or 0.5%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average blending demand at 911,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 3,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest held steady and declined 3,000 bpd on both the Gulf Coast and West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 23.973 million bbl, up 250,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.113 million bbl, or 4.6%, higher than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.084 million bbl, down 81,000 bbl week-on-week and 46,000 bbl, or 0.6%, higher than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 10.058 million bbl, up 420,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.214 million bbl, or 12.1%, higher than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.145 million bbl, down 292,000 bbl week-on-week and 80,000 bbl, or 1.9%, higher than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.313 million bbl, up 189,000 bbl week-on-week and 252,000 bbl, or 10.9%, lower than in the same week last year.
