EIA: Domestic Ethanol Production, Demand, Supply Up on Week

OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.057 million barrels per day (bpd), up 34,000 bpd week-on-week and 5,000 bpd, or 0.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.055 million bpd was 28,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Midwest ethanol production averaged 998,000 bpd, up 31,000 bpd week-on-week and 8,000 bpd, or 0.8%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 996,000 bpd was 26,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 931,000 bpd, up 19,000 bpd week-on-week and 28,000 bpd, or 3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average blending demand at 922,000 bpd was 15,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 7,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 4,000 bpd, up 6,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and up 1,000 bpd on the West Coast.

Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 23.617 million barrels (bbl), up 395,000 bbl week-on-week and 813,000 bbl, or 3.4%, higher than in the same week last year.

East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.189 million bbl, up 102,000 bbl week-on-week and 398,000 bbl, or 5.5%, higher than in the same week last year.

Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 9.34 million bbl, down 60,000 bbl week-on-week and 613,000 bbl, or 6.6%, higher than in the same week last year.

Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.315 million bbl, up 206,000 bbl week-on-week and 234,000 bbl, or 5.4%, lower than in the same week last year.

West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.421 million bbl, up 145,000 bbl week-on-week and 47,000 bbl, or 1.9%, higher than in the same week last year.
