1. What's important to you?: We're kicking off a reader survey to establish what the most important subjects are to our readers, as well as how readers prefer to access the latest in news, markets and weather information we provide. We take readers' needs and preferences seriously, so here's your chance to help us do our jobs better. To access the survey, go here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/…. Thank you, in advance, for helping out!
2. H5N1 avian influenza continues: With yet another report of a human contracting H5N1 avian flu, and again related to a dairy herd exposure, we're continuing to track the spread of the virus as we head into summer livestock show season. For the latest on USDA efforts to track the disease, see our Ag Policy blog here: https://www.dtnpf.com/….
3. Some breaks from rain: We're expecting a bit of a break from the continuing rain systems this week. Expectations are for overall drier conditions, but there will still be showers popping up, particularly in the Great Lakes area. Planting windows are tight (see https://www.dtnpf.com/…), so our weekly USDA NASS Crop Progress report updates bear watching. For the latest weather updates, see our morning Market Weather Outlook here: https://www.dtnpf.com/….
