Ethanol Stocks Up Week of Dec. 29
EIA: US Ethanol Production, Demand Down on Week; Stocks Gain
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.049 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended Dec. 29, the Energy Information Administration reports, down 58,000 bpd week-on-week and 205,000 bpd, or 19.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.075 million bpd was 101,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 995,000 bpd, down 52,000 bpd week-on-week and 201,000 bpd, or 20.2%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.016 million bpd was 97,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 809,000 bpd, down 97,000 bpd week-on-week and 20,000 bpd, or 2.5%, higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output at 874,000 bpd was 9,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were down 33,000 bpd in the week while inputs in the Midwest were down 31,000 bpd, down 14,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 15,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 23.579 million barrels (bbl), up 62,000 bbl week-on-week and 865,000 bbl, or 3.7%, lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventory ended the week at 6.912 million bbl, down 116,000 bbl week-on-week and 256,000 bbl, or 3.7%, lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 9.94 million bbl, up 714,000 bbl week-on-week and 97,000 bbl, or 1%, higher than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.086 million bbl, down 440,000 bbl week-on-week and 514,000 bbl, or 12.6%, lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.316 million bbl, down 101,000 bbl week-on-week and 211,000 bbl, or 9.1%, lower than in the same week last year.
