US Ethanol Inventory Down
EIA: Domestic Ethanol Production Drops 2% From Previous Week in Week Ended Aug. 18
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.048 million barrels per day (bpd) as of Aug. 18, down 21,000 bpd week-on-week and 61,000 bpd, or 5.8%, higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output, at 1.052 million bpd, was 43,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 992,000 bpd, down 20,000 bpd week-on-week and 64,000 bpd, or 6.5%, higher than in the same week last year. The four-week average output, at 993,000 bpd, was 42,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 915,000 bpd, down 11,000 bpd week-on-week and 4,000 bpd, or 0.4% lower than in the same week last year. The four-week average output, at 921,000 bpd, was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were down 5,000 bpd in the week, while inputs in the Midwest were down 2,000 bpd, down 2,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 2,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 22.79 million barrels (bbl), down 645,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.017 million bbl, or 4.5%, lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventory ended the week at 6.976 million bbl, down 126,000 bbl week-on-week and 742,000 bbl, or 10.6%, lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 9.066 million bbl, down 62,000 bbl week-on-week and 401,000 bbl, or 4.4%, higher than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 3.969 million bbl, down 418,000 bbl week-on-week and 364,000 bbl, or 9.2%, lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.43 million bbl, down 35,000 bbl week-on-week and 292,000 bbl, or 12%, lower than in the same week last year.
