EIA: US Ethanol Production, Stocks Lower; Blending Demand Up
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Energy Information Administration data show overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.018 million barrels per day (bpd), down 18,000 bpd week-on-week and 42,000 bpd, or 4.1%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.01 million bpd was 36,000 bpd below the same four weeks in 2022.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 961,000 bpd, down 20,000 bpd week-on-week and 38,000 bpd, or 4%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 956,000 bpd was 33,000 bpd below the same four weeks in 2022.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 913,000 bpd, up 26,000 bpd week-on-week and 12,000 bpd, or 1.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 914,000 bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks in 2022.
Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 13,000 bpd in the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 9,000 bpd, up 1,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and up 4,000 bpd on the West Coast.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 22.226 million barrels (bbl), down 722,000 bbl week-on-week and 971,000 bbl, or 4.4%, lower than in the same week last year.
East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 6.731 million bbl, down 289,000 bbl week-on-week and 122,000 bbl, or 1.8%, lower than in the same week last year.
Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 8.484 million bbl, down 287,000 bbl week-on-week and 591,000 bbl, or 7%, lower than in the same week last year.
Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.419 million bbl, up 47,000 bbl week-on-week and 98,000 bbl, or 2.2%, lower than in the same week last year.
West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.219 million bbl, down 197,000 bbl week-on-week and 146,000 bbl, or 6.6%, lower than in the same week last year.
