Grains

OMAHA (DTN) -- December corn is up 9 1/4 cents and November soybeans are down 3 1/2 cents. September KC wheat is up 6 1/4 cents, September Chicago wheat is up 6 3/4 cents, and September MIAX Minneapolis wheat is up 3/4 cents. October crude oil is down $1.01 and Dow Jones futures are up 3 points. The U.S. Dollar Index is unchanged and December gold is up $9.90. To begin the new week, corn futures are strong out of the gate after ProFarmer's Midwest tour estimated an average U.S. corn yield of 173.2 bushels per acre (bpa) -- considerably lower than the 180.7 bpa USDA forecast and would be the lowest U.S. yield in six years if accurate. Meanwhile, soybeans are under mild pressure after the same tour found a record yield forecast of 53.3 bpa, which would extend the already record large 2026 crop forecast if realized. Overall, grain futures enter the final trading week of August on a hot streak, with wheat also supported by the ongoing export cutoff in the Black Sea.
