OMAHA (DTN) -- Heavy rain in the central United States forecast and modest easing of dryness stress in the Brazil winter corn areas are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Tuesday.

ADDITIONAL MIDWEST PRECIPITATION

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for rain across the Midwest during the next seven days. Amounts will vary. Northern and eastern sectors have light to moderate totals in store. Western and southern sectors have heavy amounts with possible severe storms and potential flooding. Recently dry portions of the northern Midwest will be watched closely for rainfall activity.

ACTIVE SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN

The Southern Plains continue with a forecast for moderate to heavy rainfall during the coming week. Rain is beneficial for row crop and cotton soil moisture. Developing wheat may incur disease due to the wetter and cloudier pattern. Some flooding may also occur along with the potential for severe storms.

COLDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, a notably colder pattern is forecast through the next week. This includes the potential for frost. Additional periods of showers will also occur along with very strong winds at times. Moisture is still needed in the region.

MIXED DELTA PATTERN

The Delta has several periods of shower activity in the forecast for later this week through the coming weekend. Rainfall from these systems will be favorable for corn, soybean and cotton moisture.

MAINLY DRY IN SOUTHEAST

The southeastern U.S. will stay mainly dry with very warm to hot weather during the next seven days. This pattern is beginning to take up soil moisture and will be watched for possible stress to crops.

DRIER PRAIRIES FORECAST

The Canadian Prairies forecast is turning drier during the next seven to 15 days. This means very little follow-up moisture for the region after recent precipitation.

MODEST BRAZIL RAIN BENEFIT

A swath of moderate rain occurred over much of the Brazil winter corn production areas during the past three days. This rain is offering some modest easing of drought stress. The forecast brings additional rain into southern areas; however, Mato Grosso has a mainly dry pattern with very warm to hot conditions.

STILL DRY IN ARGENTINA

Central Argentina has a continued dry pattern in the seven-day forecast. This will favor additional row crop harvest progress.

SHOWERS FOR EUROPE

Periods of showers and mainly below-normal temperatures are in store for most of Europe crop regions this week. Crop moisture is favorable at this time.

INCREASED RUSSIA RAIN CHANCE

Rain prospects are increasing across Russia and Ukraine crop areas during the next week. Most primary wheat areas have moderate to locally heavy amounts indicated in the forecast. This would be useful late-season moisture for wheat along with summer crops.
