OMAHA (DTN) -- Variable rain prospects in the central United States and only limited precipitation in store for the winter corn areas of Brazil are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Tuesday.

MIXED MIDWEST RAIN PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for light to moderate rain to occur over the western Midwest during the next seven days. Included in this moisture coverage are drier areas of the northwestern sector of the region. The eastern Midwest has a drier pattern which will favor planting progress.

ADDITIONAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

Southern Plains crop areas have continued periods of widespread showers and thunderstorms ahead through the end of the week. All developing crops will benefit from the increasing moisture. However, some flooding is possible in the southeastern Plains where very heavy rainfall is likely.

NORTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE CHANCE

In the Northern Plains, an unsettled pattern will bring increasing showers to the region from Wednesday through early next week. This should help to brin some easing of drought conditions along with soil moisture for crop development.

DRY AND WARM IN DELTA

The Delta will see periods of light to moderate rain through Wednesday. The pattern then turns dry with very warm to hot weather. This combination will generally be beneficial for corn, soybeans and cotton with the drier trend offering favorable conditions for the final stage of planting.

SOUTHEAST HEAT

The southeastern U.S. has a very warm to hot and mainly dry pattern in store over the next seven days. Crop progress will be favorable due to adequate soil moisture and the warm conditions.

PRAIRIES MOISTURE WATCH

The Canadian Prairies continue with a prospect for widespread showers during the next seven days. Precipitation amounts have moderate to heavy totals indicated. This would be much-needed moisture for soils that are very dry, notably in central and eastern sectors of the region.

VARIABLE BRAZIL RAINFALL

Brazil's winter corn areas have a wide variability in rainfall prospects. South-central areas have moderate to locally heavy precipitation in store through the next seven days. However, the state of Mato Grosso has dry conditions with above- to much-above-normal temperatures in its forecast. Benefits to the drought-stressed winter corn crop will be marginal due to this wide difference in rainfall.

RAIN TO RETURN TO ARGENTINA

Central Argentina crop areas have a return of light to moderate rain in the forecast through the balance of the week. This will cause some disruption to harvest after favorable conditions for progress during the past week.
