OMAHA (DTN) -- Uncertain rain chances in Argentina and prospects for rainfall in the Midwest during the 10-day period are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Friday.

MIDWEST 10-DAY RAINFALL PROSPECT

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a dry Midwest pattern through the weekend. The forecast indicates a more active pattern during the seven- to 10-day period, with moderate to locally heavy amounts in the central and eastern Midwest. This would be useful for soil moisture ahead of spring fieldwork.

VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

Light to moderate rain is in store for the Southern Plains Friday. This event will bring some drought easing. A series of systems are expected next week that will likely miss dry sections in the west but bring additional showers to the north and east. This is an important chance for winter wheat with temperatures increasing enough for wheat to exit dormancy.

MIMIMAL NORTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE CHANCE

The Northern Plains remain dry and warm through the next five days. A storm system may develop in the middle of next week, bringing some precipitation. Significant dryness easing is unlikely, however.

DRIER TREND IN DELTA

In the Delta, a drier pattern through the weekend will help to dry and condition soils for fieldwork.

MORE CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

In central Brazil, heavy rainfall continues in the forecast for central and south-central areas through the next seven days. The rain will further delay soybean harvest and safrinha (second crop) corn planting.

LIMITED ARGENTINA RAINFALL

In central Argentina, showers will form during the next five days. However, rainfall will not provide much easing of dryness over corn and soybean areas. Crop ratings have declined again during the past week. Corn is rated only 25% good to excellent and soybeans have a mere 10% rated good to excellent by the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange.
