Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain chances this week and next for South American crops, a warm trend in Argentina and some precipitation this week for the central and Southern Plains are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

WEEKEND PRECIPITATION IN MIDWEST

The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for temperatures to increase through the next few days with a system moving through on Friday and during the weekend with moderate precipitation, including snow over the north. Temperatures will fall closer to normal behind a front on Thursday but likely increase above normal again next week.

MODERATE PRECIPITATION AHEAD FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, temperatures above normal allowed most of last week's snow to melt. A system will move through with chances for moderate precipitation across much of the region late Thursday through Saturday, including snow. Increasing soil moisture will benefit any non-dormant wheat.

MILD IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, dryness and mild conditions have caused little to no stress on livestock recently. Temperatures will fall closer to normal behind a front on Thursday but likely increase above normal again next week.

DRIER UNTIL WEEKEND FOR SOUTHEAST

Southeast crop areas have dry weather during the next few days that will improve conditions. Another system will bring showers during the weekend into early next week which could cause further delays.

RAINS IN CENTRAL BRAZIL

In Brazil, scattered moderate to heavy showers will continue through the weekend in central portions of the country, just in time for corn and soybeans reaching reproductive stages. Extreme dryness last week will contrast with above normal precipitation. Southern areas will be drier during the next few days, but waves of showers will move back into the area this weekend and into next week.

ARGENTINA SHOWERS

In Argentina, dryness during the past several days may have caused some stress to developing corn and soybeans. A system will bring isolated showers to southern areas late Thursday into Friday, migrating to northern areas during the weekend. A couple of additional rounds of showers may develop through next week, especially in the north, benefiting developing crops. The isolated nature over the south could cause further stress.

SCATTERED SHOWERS FOR AUSTRALIA

After a few dry days this week in Australia, scattered showers look to move back into eastern areas Thursday into next week, especially in Queensland and northern New South Wales, benefiting developing crops.
