OMAHA (DTN) -- A seasonal temperature pattern for the Midwest, and limited precipitation for the dry areas of the central United States, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

SEASONAL MIDWEST TEMPERATURES

The DTN ag weather forecast continues to suggest generally seasonal temperatures for the Midwest through the rest of the week. Dryness is the eastern Midwest is stressing crops and threatens the already-lowered yield projections.

STRESSFUL SOUTHERN PLAINS HEAT

Southern Plains areas will be mainly dry and hot through the next week. Hotter conditions were favorable for the now-complete wheat harvest, but heat stress to crops and livestock is likely. Irrigation usage will be extensive.

LAGGING PROGRESS IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains' crop areas have generally favorable crop conditions. However, seasonal to below-normal temperatures will hinder crop development. Crop progress is well behind average because of extensive planting delays during the very wet spring. The region needs a late fall freeze to allow crops to fully develop.

COOL WITH SHOWERS IN PRAIRIES

Canadian Prairies' crop areas have light-to-moderate rain and a cool pattern in store through the balance of the week. Rainfall is notably needed in the southwestern portion of the region. Cool weather will keep crop progress slow in this late season.

SHOWERS FOR WESTERN EUROPE

Much of Europe's western, northern and eastern crop areas will have periods of rain over the next five days. Southern Europe will be dry. Temperatures will be seasonal to above normal, with warmest conditions in the drier areas along the Mediterranean Sea.

COOL WEEK FOR RUSSIA

Russia and Ukraine have below-normal temperatures and mostly dry conditions in the forecast through the remainder of this week. The cooler trend will minimize crop stress.

DRY IN EASTERN RUSSIA

Eastern Russia crop areas will have mostly dry conditions through the remainder of the week. The best chance for rain is in the Urals region. Temperatures will vary from below normal in the Volga Valley to above normal in Siberia.

CONTINUED INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Heavy monsoon rains are indicated over north-central and west-central India through the balance of the week.
