OMAHA (DTN) -- Only a brief round of rain in Brazil's central crop areas, and possible flooding in central Argentina, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

COLD AND STORMY FOR MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a new winter storm to move through the Midwest during the next two days. Rain, mixed precipitation and snow will cause transportation delays and stress to livestock in open fields, notably in western and north-central areas. An intense cold wave is also in store through the balance of the week. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain and flooding may develop in the eastern and southern Midwest.

MIDWEEK SOUTHERN PLAINS SNOW

In the Southern Plains, snow, cold and strong winds are in store for the northern sector of the region through Wednesday. This winter storm pattern will be stressful to livestock and transportation. A mainly dry and chilly pattern is in store during late week.

MINIMAL BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, dryness remains a big concern for pod-filling soybeans in central and northeastern areas. Concern is also growing regarding soil moisture deficits for the upcoming safrinha corn crop. Meanwhile, southern Brazil is experiencing crop stress and possible loss due to heavy rain and flooding.

MIXED ARGENTINA RAIN

In Argentina, northern crop areas were drier over the past weekend, easing flood problems. Heavy rain is forecast for this week in the southern half of major crop areas, with the potential for flooding.

BLACK SEA SNOW COVER

In the Black Sea region, snow cover is adequate for wheat in Ukraine and Russia. Meanwhile, Europe has ongoing periodic transportation delays due to occurrences of moderate to heavy snow.

AVERAGE CHINA CONDITIONS

Across China's crop areas, temperatures are favorable for winter. Precipitation is mostly confined to the Yangtze River valley. The North China Plain has a seasonally dry trend.

DRIER SOUTH AFRICA PATTERN

In South Africa, conditions are trending drier after recent showers. Several areas are in need of supplemental rainfall.
