OMAHA (DTN) -- A mixed Midwest rainfall pattern and only light showers for the Southern Plains are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

VARIABLE MIDWEST RAIN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a variable rainfall pattern across the Midwest during the next week. Western and northern areas will have moderate to locally heavy activity, causing disruptions to fieldwork and planting progress. Elsewhere, precipitation will be light to moderate, offering more favorable conditions for planting.

LIGHT SOUTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

Southern Plains wheat areas have scattered light rain showers forecast through this week. These showers are expected to offer minimal benefit to the stressed winter wheat crop.

WARMER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

A warming trend in the Northern Plains this week, along with scattered light showers, will improve conditions for field work and planting.

FAVORABLE DELTA PATTERN

In the Delta, conditions are favorable this week for planting and crop development. Light rain is indicated in the forecast by late week.

DRY PRAIRIES PATTERN

A dry pattern is indicated for the Canadian Prairies during the next week. Temperatures will be cool in the morning with notable warming into the afternoon. The general pattern is favorable for spring fieldwork.

DRY AGAIN IN BRAZIL

Brazil's central crop areas have a dry week ahead. Dryness may lead to crop losses in second-crop corn (safrinha).

DRY TREND IN CHINA

In central China, rainfall chances for the primary winter wheat belt appear limited during the next 10 days.
