Beneficial Fieldwork Pattern
OMAHA (DTN) -- A warmer pattern to improve Midwest planting, and only modest benefit from Southern Plains showers, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
SEASONAL MIDWEST WARMTH
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mild and seasonal conditions across the Midwest through the next five days. This pattern will be favorable for row crop fieldwork and planting, including the western and northern areas where April snow and cold delayed the onset of activity. The overall corn planting pace is the slowest in four years, however, placing a premium on continued mild conditions.
MODEST SOUTHERN PLAINS DRYNESS EASING
Southern Plains wheat areas have an increase in shower potential through the next five days. Modest easing of drought stress is possible. However, reduced wheat production is already likely due to drought damage.

MILDER FORECAST IN NORTHERN PLAINS
In the Northern Plains, warmer weather with only scattered light showers will offer improved conditions for planting and early crop development.
SHOWERS FOR DELTA
In the Delta, periods of showers this week will cause some disruption in planting progress. Producers have in general had a favorable start to the season, however.
MILD TREND IN CANADIAN PRAIRIES
In the Canadian Prairies, a warmer trend will improve soil temperatures and fieldwork conditions.
BRAZIL STAYS DRIER
Brazil's central crop areas continue with a dry forecast through the rest of the week. Soil moisture is generally favorable for the second-crop (safrinha) corn. However, the onset of the dry season may be underway, suggesting reduced moisture for filling corn.
