OMAHA (DTN) -- Persistent wet conditions in the Midwest and Delta, and chronic dryness in the Southern Plains, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

WET AND CHILLY IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast continues to highlight cold and wet conditions to keep spring fieldwork very slow or completely stalled this week. The pattern remains generally wet, leading to additional fieldwork delays during the balance of the next two weeks.

CONTINUED SOUTHERN PLAINS DROUGHT

Southern Plains wheat areas have no significant precipitation in store through the next week to 10 days. Crop ratings remain poor and are the lowest in more than 15 years.

STANDSTILL IN DELTA

In the Delta, saturated soils especially after recent heavy rains leave fieldwork and planting stranded. Additional near to above normal rainfall during the next week to 10 days will further delay seasonal fieldwork.

SNOW FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, North Dakota is expected to see snow with melted precipitation of 0.25 to 0.50 inch centered on Friday. The crop area will benefit from the added moisture but the snow will lead to transport delays and will be unfavorable for livestock.

MINIMAL ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina has a few light showers forecast over the next few days. Very little crop benefit is expected, however, due to the worst drought in decades. Soybean crop loss is extensive.

BENEFICIAL BRAZIL TREND

Soil moisture for developing second-crop corn in central Brazil remains favorable with no end to the rainy season in sight. Southern Brazil soybean harvest may have some disruptions due to showers, but nothing extensive is indicated.
