OMAHA (DTN) -- Favorable precipitation during the last couple of days in Kansas, fieldwork delays in the eastern Midwest, little rain for Argentina, and beneficial conditions for Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

CHANCE FRIDAY FOR RAIN IN ARGENTINA

The DTN ag weather forecast for Argentina calls for very dry conditions to continue affecting corn and soybean development in Cordoba and Santa Fe after the failure of the weekend system to reach into these important growing areas. The next chance for significant rain to occur looks to be Friday, but the pattern probably will not generate enough to significantly improve crops dealing from drought.

FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR BRAZIL

Brazil is seeing a more favorable weather pattern at this time for maturing and harvesting of soybeans and development of second-crop corn.

FAVORABLE RAIN IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, there was very favorable precipitation for central and east Kansas area Sunday night into early Monday. Storm totals averaged 0.50 inch to 1.50 inches of rain over south-central, southeast and east-central Kansas with 0.25 to 0.50 inch reported in southwest, north-central and northeast Kansas from this system. More rain is needed to end concerns and little is expected during the next seven to 10 days. Drought continues to affect wheat development from southwest Kansas southward, especially through the Texas Panhandle and western Oklahoma.

POSSIBLE WEEKEND STORM IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, the North Dakota region should be drier for a few days, but during this coming weekend, a moderate snow and rain event is expected. This would affect transport if verified.

FIELDWORK DELAYS IN MIDWEST

In the Midwest, episodes of rain, some mixed snow and periods of cooler weather will likely delay early fieldwork during the next seven to 10 days. This remains an active weather pattern for the region.

WET DELTA CONDITIONS

In the Delta, wet and very wet conditions will continue to hamper spring fieldwork in the region. The region looks to be somewhat drier during the next three to five days and also much warmer toward the end of the week and during the coming weekend. Rain returns to the area by early next week.

MIXED CONDITIONS FOR SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa had widespread showers and thundershowers during the weekend with more likely during this week. This may favor late-filling maize and sugarcane, but it will be unfavorable for the maturing crop and could delay the early harvest.
