Welcome Precipitation in Kansas; Argentina Remains Dry
OMAHA (DTN) -- Some beneficial precipitation in parts of Kansas, and a dry pattern continuing in Argentina, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
ARGENTINA'S DRIEST AREAS MISS RAIN
Argentina received some beneficial showers and thunderstorms for northern Buenos Aires, but the rains failed to reach key growing areas of Cordoba and Santa Fe where further losses are expected to filling crops, especially soybeans. The DTN ag weather forecast again calls for mostly dry conditions for the next few days, with only a few light showers possible for Thursday and Friday.
FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR SOUTHERN BRAZIL
Brazil is seeing a more favorable weather pattern at this time for maturing and harvesting of soybeans and development of second-crop corn.

SOME FAVORABLE RAIN IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
In the Southern Plains, there was very favorable rain for the central and east Kansas area overnight last night and continues today. However, more rain will be needed to end drought concerns and little is expected after today. Showers in southwest Kansas were not enough to ease dryness concerns and areas south of there -- such as in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles -- missed this rain chance for the winter wheat crop.
SNOW IN NORTHERN PLAINS
In the Northern Plains, light snow may affect portions of the Northern Plains today, leading to some transportation slowdowns. Later in the week, a heavier snow event is possible for North Dakota.
FIELDWORK DELAYS IN MIDWEST
In the Midwest, episodes of rain, some mixed snow and periods of cooler weather will likely delay early fieldwork during the next seven days. There is a chance it may become warmer late in the 10-day period and not as wet, but this is somewhat uncertain at this time.
WET DELTA CONDITIONS
In the Delta, wet and very wet conditions will continue to hamper spring fieldwork in the region. A weekend system brought rain to southern areas with showers otherwise in the region. Rainfall this week may favor areas from Memphis north while the southern belt trends somewhat drier and warmer.
SOUTH AFRICA MIXED CONDITIONS
South Africa had widespread showers and thundershowers during the weekend with more likely during this week. This may favor late-filling maize and sugarcane, but it will be unfavorable for the maturing crop and could delay the early harvest.
