OMAHA (DTN) -- A warmer trend in Argentina, a mostly favorable pattern for Brazil, and continued dry outlook for the Southern Plains are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

WARMER WEATHER, SOME SHOWERS IN ARGENTINA

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for Argentina crops to benefit from timely and beneficial rains and cooler weather over the weekend that helped ease stress to developing corn and soybeans after a period of hot, dry weather last week. In the forecast, there's a chance for a few showers or isolated thundershowers during Saturday in Cordoba, Santa Fe and North Buenos Aires. Dry conditions or only a few afternoon thundershowers favoring Cordoba are expected Sunday. There are scattered to widely scattered thundershowers Monday and possibly Tuesday as well.

As for La Pampa and South Buenos Aires, it will be mostly dry today and Friday. Dry or with only a few light showers with locally heavier during Saturday. Temperatures average near to above normal today, above normal Friday and Saturday. Some local areas could use more rain, especially during periods when the weather is warm to hot.

FAVORABLE BRAZIL CONDITIONS

Across Brazil, rain in southern Brazil favors developing soybeans. A trend toward drier weather in central Brazil during the next five days will favor maturing soybeans and the early harvest. There's favorable soil moisture for developing soybeans in central Brazil.

WARMER, LIMITED RAIN FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, there's a rapid warm-up during the next day or two. There does not appear to be additional significant cold outbreaks for the region during the next seven days. The turn to colder weather at the end of the 10-day period does not appear threatening at this time, but it will be watched. The chance for significant rainfall or snow remains limited during the next seven days.

VARIABLE MIDWEST TEMPERATURES

The Midwest has a variable temperature pattern. The widely varying temperature pattern might be somewhat unfavorable in some locations. Conditions do not present a stress threat to soft red winter wheat at this time.

WEEKEND SNOWSTORMS FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains and western Midwest areas have a snowstorm indicated during the Sunday-through-Monday timeframe. The storm features snow, ice and rain with increasing winds. This is likely to produce an area of heavy snow and strong winds affecting transport and increasing stress on livestock. The axis of heavier snow and wind will depend on the track of the storm center and how quickly the precipitation changes to snow. At this time, the highest risk for snow and wind appears to be in the west and north areas.
