Beneficial Rains This Week for Western Midwest
OMAHA (DTN) -- Some timely rains this week for the western Midwest, a chance for some showers in the Northern Plains, mostly dry conditions for the Canadian Prairies, and more rain in the Southern Plains wheat area, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
BENEFICIAL RAINS FOR MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for some timely and beneficial rains this week for filling corn and soybeans, especially through the western Midwest region. No significant heat stress is expected.
FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS
Southern Plains crop areas have generally favorable conditions with some rain chances for the hard red winter wheat area to provide moisture planting the crop in September. For west Texas, there are generally favorable conditions for developing cotton.
BENEFICIAL WEEKEND RAINS IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, there were some beneficial rains for filling corn and soybeans during the weekend with more expected during the first half of this week. No significant heat stress is expected.
DRY TREND CONTINUES FOR PRAIRIES
Dry weather will continue to stress filling crops in Alberta and Saskatchewan in the Canadian Prairies. More favorable conditions in expected for Manitoba. No significant heat stress is seen.
RAIN HELPS UKRAINE YIELDS
Yield prospects for crops remain near to above normal over much of Ukraine and Russia due to above-normal rainfall during the past 30 days in much of the region.
FAVORABLE NORTHEAST CHINA RAIN
Beneficial rain continues for reproductive to filling corn and soybeans in northeast China.
DRIER IN WEST INDIA TREND
Drier weather favors planting and developing oilseeds and cotton in the major growing areas of west-central India.
MORE RAIN NEEDED IN AUSTRALIA
Some beneficial rain for wheat in Australia has occurred; however, more will be needed in southeast areas to improve yield prospects after a dry start to the growing season.
