Rain Chance In Western Corn Belt
OMAHA (DTN)-- Promising rain chances in the western Midwest, and further dryness in the U.S. Plains and Canadian Prairies, are key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
WESTERN MIDWEST RAIN CHANCE
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a chance of much-needed rain in the western Midwest over the next two days, particularly in Iowa. If verified, this might help stabilize crop prospects in the area. Rain is also indicated for the eastern Midwest during the last half of the week. In some areas, this moisture would be unwelcome due to saturated soils from previous rain events.
MIXED PATTERN IN SOUTHERN PLAINS
P[L1] D[0x0] M[300x250] OOP[F] ADUNIT[] T[]
In the Southern Plains, rainfall from the southwestern U.S. monsoon is indicated to move over northern portions of the region during the next few days. The rains, along with mild temperatures, will be helpful for crops and pastures. Southern locales will stay drier. There is some indication that the temperature pattern in the next 10 days will be milder than recent forecasts calling for a hot trend.
CONTINUED HEAT AND DROUGHT IN NORTHERN PLAINS
In the Northern Plains, heat and drought continue to wither crops. Major losses to spring wheat have already occurred. Pollinating corn is now being affected with significant losses likely. Very little moisture is indicated in the forecast through the next week.
DRY IN PRAIRIES
Mostly dry conditions are suggested in the forecast over the Canadian Prairies. Dryness issues in southern Saskatchewan and southern Alberta remain in effect.
BENEFICIAL BLACK SEA REGION PATTERN
In the Black Sea region, Ukraine and Russia crop prospects remain generally favorable.
