Showers in Western Midwest, Dry in the Eastern Half

OMAHA (DTN) -- Showers in the western Midwest, dry in the eastern Midwest Monday, mostly dry in the Northern Plains, and light showers in the Southern Plains are items for the attention of Monday's commodity market.

LIGHT SHOWERS IN THE WESTERN MIDWEST

The western Midwest will see only a few light showers favoring north and east areas Monday and Tuesday. Light-to-moderate showers and thundershowers are forecast for northern and east-central areas Wednesday or Wednesday night. Scattered showers and thundershowers are favoring eastern and southern areas Thursday. It will be drier on Friday. Showers may redevelop during Saturday.

DRY IN EASTERN MIDWEST

The eastern Midwest will be dry or have only a few light showers favoring northern areas Monday. It will be mostly dry Tuesday and dry early Wednesday. Showers and thundershowers are forecast for later Wednesday or Wednesday night mainly in Wisconsin and extreme northern Illinois.

Scattered showers and thundershowers are favoring north and west areas during Thursday, east and south locations Friday. Scattered to widely scattered showers are indicated for Saturday. Temperatures will be average to above normal Thursday and somewhat cooler Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures across the Midwest trending near to below normal Monday and Tuesday, above normal Wednesday.

DRY IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains will be mostly dry Monday with only a few light showers developing through eastern areas Monday. It will be mostly dry Tuesday and dry or with only light showers favoring eastern areas on Wednesday. Temperatures average near to below normal Monday and near to above normal Tuesday and Wednesday.

SOUTHERN PLAINS TO SEE LIGHT SHOWERS

In the central and Southern Plains, scattered light to locally moderate showers in northeast and central Texas are forecast for Monday. It will be dry elsewhere in the region Monday and mostly dry Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures average near to below normal Monday, hotter again Tuesday and Wednesday.

Scattered showers and thundershowers will develop through northern areas Thursday or Thursday night.

ONLY LIGHT SHOWERS IN CANADIAN PRAIRIE AREAS

Canadian Prairies will be mostly dry or with only a few light showers favoring eastern and northwestern areas Monday. It will be mainly dry Tuesday with light to locally moderate showers favoring northern and eastern areas during Wednesday. Temperatures will average near to below normal Monday and Tuesday and below normal on Wednesday.

CONDITIONS IMPROVING FOR NORTHEAST CHINA CROPS

Weekend showers improved conditions for planting and early development of crops. However, more rain is still needed through some western growing areas.
