Market Impact Weather
Western Midwest Rain
OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain focusing on the western Midwest this week, and a mild trend in the Southern Plains wheat areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
MIXED MIDWEST RAIN
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a mixed rain pattern in the Midwest this week. Western areas will see moderate to heavy rain, causing planting delays but also providing beneficial crop moisture. Eastern Midwest areas will have drier conditions, offering improvement in fieldwork and planting following heavy rain earlier in the month.
WARM SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN
In the Southern Plains, the winter wheat crop is continuing to recover from the effects of cold and snow back in April. Warm, dry weather would benefit. Unsettled weather is expected during the week with a turn to cooler conditions later in the week.
WET FOR NORTHERN PLAINS
Northern Plains' areas will see moderate to locally heavy rain this week. The rain will disrupt planting; however, moisture is welcome for fields already seeded and will assist early crop development.

COOL AND DRY IN PRAIRIES
Across the Canadian Prairies, drier conditions are indicated this week. Drying is favorable for many fields, but lower temperatures will also accompany the trend and slow drying.
SHOWERS FOR BRAZIL
Across Brazil, periods of showers this week will favor filling corn.
VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN
In Argentina, variable rain is forecast this week. Locally heavy amounts are in store for east-central crop areas and cause some harvest disruptions. Moisture will benefit wheat.
IMPROVED EUROPE MOISTURE
Crop areas of England received moderate to locally heavy rain during the weekend. This rain was the first in the past six weeks and is timely for wheat production prospects. The British Isle rain adds to recent improvement in precipitation over Western Europe.
LIGHT UKRAINE SHOWERS
Ukraine's north-central crop areas had light to locally moderate rain during the weekend. The rain will help alleviate dry-weather stress. However, more rain is needed for winter and spring crops.
WEEKEND CHINA RAIN
Central and eastern China crop areas had rain during the past weekend. Rain improves soil moisture for spring crops. Drier conditions for planting progress are expected for much of this week.
