OMAHA (DTN) -- Significant Midwest planting disruption due to heavy expected rain, and a cold and wet pattern in northern crop areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

MIDWEST PLANTING DELAYS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for heavy rain across the Midwest during the next week. The rain, along with variable temperatures, will disrupt planting progress.

MORE SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, recent and upcoming rains will improve and maintain soil moisture for winter wheat. Recent warm weather will promote more rapid development of the crop. A cooler trend will slow growth rates somewhat, for a time. Cooler and wetter conditions will also slow down corn planting and early development.

HEAVY RAIN FOR DELTA

In the Delta, heavy rain is indicated over the next seven days. This will cause extensive disruption to fieldwork and planting. Heavy rain will also cause potential damage to winter wheat due to wet soils.

COLD AND WET IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, the pattern this week brings wet conditions and colder weather. This will disrupt planting across the region.

COLDER FOR PRAIRIES

In the Canadian Prairies, periodic light rain and snow during the next week will be unfavorable for fieldwork.

EARLY-WEEK BRAZIL SHOWERS

Across Brazil, recent rainfall will favor development of second crop corn in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul. Showers early this week may be unfavorable for mature summer crops and harvesting but it should be drier and warmer at the end of this week.

BENEFICIAL ARGENTINA CONDITIONS

Argentina has beneficial conditions for maturing summer crops and harvesting at this time. Light to moderate showers may affect Cordoba and Santa Fe early this week but most of the time it will be drier.

DRY EUROPE PATTERN

Western Europe is in the midst of a notably dry trend. Precipitation is from 50 to 75% below normal during the past 30 days. This dry situation is unfavorable for wheat and winter oilseed crops.

WARMER FOR UKRAINE

Ukraine and Russia wheat areas will see a warmer trend during this week. This warmer pattern will generally favor winter grain development. Recent rain maintains mostly favorable soil moisture. The only notable dry area is in central Ukraine; however, the extent of dryness has been easing recently.
