OMAHA (DTN) -- Mild, mostly dry conditions in the Midwest, beneficial showers in Argentina, crop conditions favorable in Brazil are items for consideration of the commodity markets for Wednesday.

MILD WEEKEND IN MIDWEST

Most crop areas are dry Wednesday in the DTN weather outlook for the Midwest. The western Midwest will be dry through the weekend. The eastern Midwest will also be mostly dry but the Ohio River Valley may see light rain Saturday or Sunday. Temperatures are trending above normal this week.

ADEQUATE SOIL MOISTURE IN PLAINS WHEAT AREAS

Wheat areas of the Central and Southern Plains have soil moisture that came from early winter rainfall that will be beneficial to wheat when it breaks dormancy this spring. More rain will possibly come this weekend.

BENEFICIAL SHOWERS COMING TO ARGENTINA

Increasing showers and thundershowers at the end of this week and this weekend will maintain adequate to surplus soil moisture for developing crops and will mostly be favorable, but some areas will see very heavy rain and local flooding.

FAVORABLE CONDITIONS IN BRAZIL

Central Brazil will see favorable conditions for maturing and harvesting soybeans and planting and developing second-crop corn. However, rain during this past weekend and Monday may have slowed fieldwork somewhat. There are favorable conditions for filling and maturing soybeans in southern Brazil. Drought in the minor northeast growing areas will affect production.

SOME RAIN IN SOUTH AFRICA

Crops in the South Africa region will continue to benefit from periodic scattered thunderstorms and no lasting hot weather.

COLD CONDITIONS IN EUROPE HARD ON CENTRAL, SOUTHERN CROPS

Wintertime cold weather is reported to have caused problems for unprotected winter grains in and around the Hungary area. Very cold conditions, relative to normal, may have also affected specialty crops such as olives and citrus in the south Italy, Greece and east Mediterranean region earlier this winter.

SNOW COVER IN RUSSIA

Another cold outbreak is expected later last week over west and south Russia and Ukraine. Reports suggest that snow cover was adequate to protect the crop in most areas, but as you move into southernmost locations, the snow cover may be more spotty in nature.
