OMAHA (DTN)-- A promising round of rain for northeastern Brazil, and weekend rain benefiting southern Argentina, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

MIDWEST SHOWERS AND SNOW

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a combination of snow and rain showers in the Midwest during the next two days. Light to locally moderate snow is indicated for the beltline of the region from Nebraska to Ohio. Rain showers with light to locally moderate amounts are also in tore for the eastern Midwest, offering some soil moisture benefit.

DRYNESS AFFECTING SOUTHERN PLAINS WHEAT

Southern Plains wheat areas have mostly favorable soil moisture. However, drier conditions are noted in the Texas crop. The weekly ratings report places Texas wheat at 31 percent good to excellent, down from 44 percent good to excellent a year ago. Very little precipitation is indicated during this week.

RAIN FOR NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL

Across Brazil, moderate to heavy rain is indicated for northeastern crop areas through the balance of this week. This will be favorable for soil moisture in a dry sector of the country. Elsewhere, generally favorable conditions for maturing and harvesting soybeans and planting second crop corn in central Brazil are in effect. Favorable conditions are also noted for filling and maturing soybeans in southern Brazil.

LIGHT CENTRAL ARGENTINA RAIN

In central Argentina, timely and beneficial rains for developing and filling corn and soybeans are indicated this week in the major growing areas. Rain amounts do not appear to be heavy enough to threaten extensive flooding. Meanwhile, moderate rain in southern areas will benefit double-crop soybeans following drought conditions this growing season.

FAVORABLE UKRAINE SNOW COVER

Ukraine and Russia have a generally deep deep snow cover over almost all wheat growing areas. This is favorable for reducing the potential damage from cold snaps.
