OMAHA (DTN) -- Mixed rain prospects in Argentina, and a continued cold forecast for the central U.S., are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

WINTRY WEEK IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast again calls for episodes of cold and snowy weather to cause transportation disruptions and increase feed usage for livestock in the Midwest the rest of this week, before the pattern eases in its harsh temperature trend during the six-to-10-day period.

LIMITED SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, more precipitation would benefit winter wheat in western areas. Forecast charts indicate a storm system forming off the Baja California coast during the next seven to 10 days. However, precipitation from that system is expected to focus more in the southern Midwest, Delta and Southeast, rather than the Southern Plains.

HARSH COLD FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, episodes of extreme cold weather will maintain high stress levels for livestock during the next five days. Snow may occur through the southern part of this area Friday ahead of a second extreme cold event.

MORE DELTA DROUGHT EASING

Significant precipitation is expected to redevelop at the end of this week and during the coming weekend in the Delta and Southeast. This moisture will further ease drought conditions.

MILD BRAZIL PATTERN

Across Brazil, mostly favorable conditions for development of early-planted corn and soybeans are still in effect at this time.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN OUTLOOK

In central Argentina, another episode of fairly hot weather is expected at the end of this week, with highs of 95 to 100 Fahrenheit (35 to 38 Celsius) expected and possibly hotter. A cold front is still expected to move through during the weekend and may stall in the northern areas for a time. This should mean scattered thunderstorms for some but may also miss some areas.
