Variable Brazil Conditions
OMAHA (DTN)-- Variable conditions across Brazil, and mixed prospects for the Midwest, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
MIXED MIDWEST TRENDS
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a mix of late-season rain and snow in the northern Midwest. Remaining corn harvest will be disrupted; however, the precipitation will be beneficial for soil moisture, as well as favorable for winter wheat. There are no significant transportation delays expected during this week.
SOUTHERN PLAINS STAY DRY
In the Southern Plains, there is no change indicated in the dry trend over the region. Dry weather and above normal temperatures over western areas deplete soil moisture and increase stress on the developing crop. Temperatures may trend cooler but with little precipitation during the next 10 days.
WINTRY NORTHERN PLAINS PATTERN

Rain and snow in the Northern Plains will cause some disruptions to transportation this week. However, temperatures are not cold enough to seriously threaten livestock.
RAIN FORMS IN SOUTHEAST
In the Delta and Southeast, showers and thunderstorms offer some soil moisture benefit, notably in Louisiana, Mississippi and much of Alabama. Showers diminish farther east, with Georgia expected to see only limited benefit from this pattern. Wildfire conditions have become intense in the southern Appalachian region due to exceptional drought.
VARIABLE BRAZIL CONDITIONS
Episodes of scattered showers favor developing soybeans in central Brazil. The southern crop region will be drier and trend somewhat hotter during the next five to seven days before the next chance of showers arrives. Drier weather will favor seasonal fieldwork.
DRIER ARGENTINA FORECAST
Central Argentina corn and soybean areas will continue dry and will turn hotter during the next week. This should help ease flooding concerns and may dry fields enough to allow fieldwork in the area hit by heavy weekend thunderstorms.
COOL CHINA PATTERN
In central China, cold temperatures late last week may have slowed development of wheat and rapeseed. Favorable conditions are in effect otherwise.
RAIN FOR SOUTH AFRICA
In the primary South Africa crop areas, frequent showers alternating with warmer and drier periods will favor development of early planted maize and continued planting in the western growing areas.
