Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs
Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs
Serve these ribs topped with your favorite barbecue sauce. Enjoy this dish with corn on the cob on the side.
TOTAL TIME: 3-6 hours
MAKES: 3-4 servings
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 rack baby back pork ribs (2 to 3 pounds)
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup barbecue sauce plus more for serving
PREPARATION AND COOKING:
1. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, garlic powder and black pepper; stir to combine.
2. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels, and flip them over so the bones are facing up. Using a knife, start to pry the white membrane from the meat of the ribs. Once you have a handle on it, peel the rest off; discard.
3. Cut the ribs into four even sections to fit properly in the slow cooker. Season them all over with seasoning mixture; arrange so they are slightly overlapping each other.
4. Add water; cover and cook three to four hours on high or four to six hours on low.
5. When the ribs are tender and cooked through, transfer them to a sheet tray. Preheat the grill to high heat; brush with vegetable oil.
6. Brush the ribs with barbecue sauce; grill two to four minutes on each side or until charred and caramelized. You can also do this under the broiler.
7. Cut into individual ribs if you'd like; serve with more barbecue sauce to taste.
