COLORADO, Cheyenne County. A large 6,300-acre property sold at absolute auction for $6.4 million, or $1,019 per acre. The offering included irrigated and dryland crop acreage, as well as grassland and CRP. It was auctioned in 17 tracts, with average prices on those tracts ranging from $600 to $2,700 per acre. INDIANA, Union County. An 805-acre farming operation sold at auction for $6.38 million. Price per acre averaged $7,926. Known locally as the Hunt-Johnson Farms, the land was owned by the same family for four generations. The property, described as "high-quality cropland with barns and bins," sold in 11 tracts. Seven bidders bought the property, four of them area farmers and three investors. KANSAS, Clark County. Cropland and grassland totaling 470 acres sold in two tracts for $451,500, or $961 per acre. The seller was Weddle Farms, and the land was mostly in wheat, milo and pasture. KENTUCKY, Ohio County. Land totaling 222 acres sold at absolute auction for $993,447, or $4,475 per acre. The property was a mix of Panther Creek bottom cropland and wooded hill land and pastures. LOUISIANA, West Carroll Parish. Timberland totaling 1,078 acres sold to an investor/developer for conversion back to row-cropping. The property sold for $2.15 million, or $1,990 per acre. The land is mostly alluvial soils and bordered on two sides by bayou, providing surface water for irrigation. Prior to conversion to timber, the land was used in rice and soybean production. MISSOURI, Dade County. The Orville Bird Farm, 135 acres, sold at auction for $520,500, or $3,856 per acre. The property sold in two tracts, both to area landowners. This was fenced pasture with a fescue forage base and five ponds. MINNESOTA, Nicollet County. Cropland totaling about 155 acres sold at auction for $1.26 million, or $8,132 per acre. The property sold in two parcels to one buyer. It was used to produce corn and soybeans, and both parcels had SPI over 90. NORTH DAKOTA, Golden Valley County. Property totaling 640 acres sold at auction for $800,000, or $1,250 per acre. The land sold in four tracts, with prices ranging from $1,025 to $1,600 per acre.
