Ag Summit Series Focuses on Crop Updates From the Field

I hope that you're reading this magazine issue today, because planting is complete or, at the very least, moving along well enough to allow you a few moments of leisure. Perhaps a gentle rain is watering your corn fields, and you're waiting until it dries out before planting soybeans. If your situation is a tad more stressful, I hope these pages offer a reprieve.

Either way, make plans to join us for the second installment of our Ag Summit Series, Crop Updates from the Field, on May 23. This virtual event will start around 8:30 a.m. CDT.

I call it a virtual event and not a webinar for a reason: The Ag Summit Series brings together the best elements of a television show and a webinar. It's more interactive than television and has live poll questions, Q&A and chat. You'll even have a chance to hop into a "Zoom room" to talk with us and other attendees. Better yet, the presentations will be shorter and more conversational than what you normally find in a webinar. Just say no to long-winded PowerPoint presentations.

The May 23 event will focus on farmers. You'll meet the two farmers featured in DTN's popular View from the Cab column, along with farmers from across the country. They'll talk about their planting season, the progress of their crops and the challenges they're facing in 2023.

DTN Ag Meteorologist John Baranick will dive into the details of the summer weather forecast, including what long-range projections tell us about the temperature and rainfall patterns at corn's crucial pollination phase and soybean's pod fill in August.

DTN Lead Analyst Todd Hultman will tie it all together with his outlook on the grain markets.

Our goal is to wrap up discussions by lunch time and leave you with perspective on where your crop's potential sits on the national spectrum. We hope that knowledge provides insights to help you make important agronomic and marketing decisions as the growing season progresses.
