ILLINOIS, Marion County. Contiguous farmland totaling 705 acres sold at auction in nine tracts for $3,295,000, or $4,674 per acre. Of the acreage, 513 acres were tillable, with most of the balance in timber. One tract included a home and outbuildings, including a shop, grain storage and historic barns. KANSAS, Ness County. CRP acreage totaling 320 acres sold at auction for $336,000, or $1,050 per acre. Mineral rights were intact on the tract, which sold as one unit. Of the total area, about 310.7 acres were enrolled in the CRP program at the time of sale, with the contract lasting through Sept. 30, 2019. The total annual CRP payment is reported at $12,428. KENTUCKY, McLean County. Three noncontiguous tracts totaling 166.8 acres sold for $965,030, or an average price of $5,786 per acre. The land included 103 acres of gently rolling to flat cropland, with blacktop frontage and a 46.5-acre flat cropland tract with a 30-foot easement. The remainder of the land was wooded and/or open. MISSOURI, Platte County. Irrigated bottomland totaling 1,100 acres sold for $5.3 million. Average price was $4,818 per acre, or $5,578 per tillable acre. The farm includes seven center-pivot irrigation systems on separate wells. It sold to a local farm family looking to expand operations. NEW YORK, Yates County. A 136-acre organic farm sold for $895,000, or an average of $6,581 per acre. The property included 90 tillable acres, a 68-tie stall barn, a heifer barn, an equipment barn and a new milk house. There were no silos or long-term manure storage. NORTH DAKOTA, Cass County. Described as exceptional cropland, two tracts totaling 320 acres sold at auction for $1.67 million, or an average per-acre price of $5,219. The first parcel was 161 acres in size, had 139.3 base acres and reported a strong cropping history with suitability for corn, soybeans and sugar beets. The second parcel included one of the highest-yielding corn parcels on the farm, held 138.04 base acres and was approximately 159 acres in size.
