The sharp dip in U.S. tractor and combine sales continued last month with farm tractor sales down 17.7% and combines sales down 48% in February 2025 compared to February 2024.

Down year over year, these numbers are also much below the five-year average for sales of tractors and combines.

Here's the breakdown for February 2025, as reported on Tuesday by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. AEM publishes the monthly Ag Tractor and Combine Report.

Sales of less-than-40-horsepower tractors were down 18.2% in February 2025 compared to February 2024. For the first two months of 2025, under-40-horsepower tractor sales are down 15.2% from the same two months in 2024

Sales of 40- to 100-horsepower tractors were down 13.1% in February compared to February 2024. Sales of 40- to 100-horsepower tractors during January-February this year compared to the first two months of 2024 are off 14.7%.

Sales of tractors 100-plus horsepower were off 22% in February compared to February 2024. For the first two months of this year compared to the first two months of 2024, 100-plus-horsepower tractor sales are off 24.3%.

Sales of four-wheel-drive tractors were down 41.2% in February compared to February 2024. For the first two months of this year compared to the same period in 2024, four-wheel-drive sales are down 47.8%.

Combine sales remain poor. February sales were down 48% compared to February 2024. Combine sales are down 65.5% January-February 2025 compared to the first two months of 2024.

Canadian tractor sales in February 2025 were significantly better than in the U.S., although actual unit sales are significantly less than tractors and combines sold in the U.S.

For example, total tractor sales were up 18.6% in February in Canada compared to February 2024. The total number of tractors sold in Canada in February 2025 were 1,347 units compared to 1,136 units in February 2024. Compare those numbers to total U.S. tractor sales in February 2025: 10,791 units sold compared to 13,115 tractors sold in February 2024.

Combine sales were off 32.1% in Canada during February 2025 compared to February 2024. Actual units sold in February 2025 were 89 compared to 131 a year earlier.
