COLBY, Kan. (DTN) --- Day 1 of the Wheat Quality Council's 68th Annual Hard Winter Wheat Tour concluded Tuesday, May 12, with a total weighted average yield estimate of 38.3 bushels per acre (bpa). Scouts assessed 187 wheat fields along six routes in northwest and north-central Kansas from Manhattan to Colby, along with some sampling in five select counties in southern Nebraska.

Last year, the average yield estimate on these same routes was 50.5 bpa.
