OMAHA (DTN) -- More flooding ahead in the Midwest, and still-favorable conditions in South America, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

MORE MIDWEST FLOODING

The DTN ag weather forecast continues to feature a major rain event for all but the northern Midwest at the end of this week. Renewed flooding for south, central and eastern areas of the region appears likely. Meanwhile, the northern Midwest will continue with major flooding due to heavy rains early in March along with melting snow.

LIMITED NORTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

In the Northern Plains, a mild and mainly dry trend will allow for orderly snowmelt during this week. Extensive flooding is still expected, however, due to heavy snow pack. Western sectors of the region have some rain and snow indicated during late week.

IMPROVED SOUTHERN PLAINS TREND

In the Southern Plains, soil moisture remains favorable for winter wheat as it exits dormancy. Progress is behind average due to low temperatures in early spring.

BENEFICIAL CONDITIONS IN BRAZIL

The pattern remains beneficial for developing second crop corn in central Brazil. Drier and warm to hot weather in southern Brazil favors the soybean harvest at least through Friday. Showers during the weekend may cause minor delays.

PERIODIC ARGENTINA SHOWERS

In central Argentina, Cordoba had rain Monday. Rain may develop in Santa Fe this coming weekend. Rain is unfavorable for maturing corn and soybeans and may briefly delay harvest. Drier, warmer weather should follow the weekend rain chance. Early corn yields have been high.
