Commodities Market Impact Weather
Storm Exits Central U.S.
OMAHA (DTN) -- A drier pattern through the weekend in the central U.S., and continued favorable rain prospects for South America, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
DRIER MIDWEST WEEKEND FORECAST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a drier weekend in most of the Midwest. This drier scenario will allow for some recovery and the beginning of repairs following damaging snow, rain and wind during the past week. However, wet ground and flooding loom as notable features for the spring season. Little if any fieldwork is expected to be accomplished until April.
QUIETER NORTHERN PLAINS TREND
In the Northern Plains, the period following the past week's powerful and intense storm system will be drier with temperatures trending toward seasonal values. This will allow for damage assessment and the beginning of recovery following blizzard conditions, high winds and moderate to heavy rain. Transportation and travel stress will still be notable. In addition, livestock loss may be significant in some areas due to severe blizzard and flooding conditions.

SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN AND SNOW
Southern Plains areas will be dry during the coming weekend. Light rain is indicated late in the 10-day time frame. The drier trend will be favorable for some recovery in areas that were most affected by the midweek blizzard. Additional rainfall is needed in southern areas which had strong winds reducing the benefit of rain that developed during midweek.
RAIN CONTINUES IN BRAZIL
Rain prospects remain high for most Brazil crop areas through the next seven days. The rain will bolster soil moisture for the safrinha corn crop.
PERIODIC ARGENTINA SHOWERS
Argentina crop areas will have periodic showers. Northern and central crop areas will benefit, while southern areas will see occasional disruptions to sunflower harvest due to rainfall.
IMPROVED EUROPE MOISTURE
Crop areas of central Europe have a much-improved soil moisture trend following periods of rain and snow over the past several weeks. A drier pattern is in store over the next week, offering chances for early spring field work.
